Stakeholders across Nigeria's employment ecosystem have called for stronger collaboration and inclusive innovation to expand access to dignified jobs for young people, as Jobberman Nigeria hosted its inaugural Partners' Convening in Lagos.
Event Overview
The event, organized under the Young Africa Works strategy in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, brought together representatives from the private sector, government, civil society, and development organizations to explore sustainable pathways for youth employment. Held under the theme, “From Impact to Action: Collectively Designing the Future of Youth Employment in Nigeria,” the convening focused on strengthening partnerships, sharing lessons, and scaling solutions that support inclusive economic opportunities for Nigerian youths.
Key Voices
Group Chief Executive Officer of The African Talent Company (TATC), Jobberman’s parent company, Hilda Kabushenga, said collaboration remains critical to unlocking opportunities for millions of young Nigerians. According to her, the organization’s partnership-driven model has helped build an ecosystem connecting skills development, employers, innovation, and inclusion. She noted that collective action could help more young people gain access to meaningful work while transforming communities and livelihoods.
Also speaking, Ahmed Alaga stressed that addressing youth unemployment requires coordinated efforts among employers, training institutions, government agencies, and community networks.
Impact and Testimonies
Partners at the convening highlighted the importance of practical and outcome-driven interventions. Dr. Oluwatobi Awaye, representing DOIT Services Business and Consulting Limited, said the partnership with Jobberman has enabled many young people to transition into employment, start businesses, and build confidence.
A key moment at the event was the testimony of programme beneficiaries, including Hauwa Dahiru, a young woman with disability in Kano, who recounted how support from a Jobberman Job Centre helped her secure employment through CV support, interview coaching, and guided placement services.
