Czech Technologies and Medical Products Showcased in Abuja to Enhance Healthcare Delivery
The Regional Trade Institute (RTI), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment and the Nigeria–Central Europe Chamber of Commerce (NCECC), has organized a showcase of Czech technologies and medical products in Abuja. This initiative aims to boost healthcare delivery in Nigeria and across Africa by introducing advanced innovations and fostering strategic partnerships.
Strengthening Economic Ties Through High-Level Engagement
Speaking at the event, Prof. Jan Zahorik, the Director for Africa–Europe Partnership at RTI, emphasized that this initiative is designed to facilitate high-level engagement among individuals and organizations. The primary goal is to strengthen economic ties between Nigeria and Central Europe by highlighting investments in the health sector, including advanced technologies, products, and innovative solutions.
Zahorik explained that the event serves as an international platform for strategic dialogue, business networking, and export facilitation. It is structured to promote mutually beneficial partnerships by connecting key stakeholders with Central European industry leaders, innovators, and investors. This effort positions Nigeria as a strategic gateway for investments into Africa, encouraging policymakers, business executives, development partners, and diplomatic community members to deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation for sustainable economic growth.
"We are looking for reliable partners in Austria, Germany, Poland, and Slovakia. While doing business in Nigeria can be different, if projects here succeed, we will expand into Francophone countries such as Cameroon and the Benin Republic," Zahorik stated.
Nigeria as an Attractive Market for Technology Exports
Prof. Martin Melichar, the Vice Dean for International Cooperation at the University of West Bohemia, highlighted Nigeria's attractiveness as a market for technology exports due to its size and strategic importance in Africa. He noted that initial discussions and partnerships have already been established in the health and education sectors, with the delegation introducing innovations in renewable energy and other technologies across Africa.
"We are in Abuja to deliver these solutions and build long-term partnerships," Melichar added, underscoring the commitment to expanding technological access and collaboration.
Leveraging Structures for Medical Service Expansion
Richard Eze, Assistant to the Vice President of NCECC, explained that the chamber plans to leverage existing structures to expand access to medical services and products. He referenced the positive impact of innovations introduced at the University of Lagos two years ago, which have contributed significantly to healthcare delivery.
"Since we introduced these innovations at the University of Lagos two years ago, they have contributed positively to healthcare delivery," Eze noted, reinforcing the potential for continued growth and improvement in Nigeria's healthcare sector through international cooperation.
