Early Christmas Feast: A Review of Federal Palace Hotel's Festive Menu
Tasting Christmas Early at Lagos's Federal Palace Hotel

As the festive season approaches, the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos is already setting the stage for Christmas celebrations with a special array of dishes and drinks. Our journalist, Chidirim Ndeche, got an exclusive early taste on December 20, 2025, sampling a menu designed for gathering loved ones and bonding over good food.

A Journey Through Festive Flavours

The tasting began with a Suya Kebab, which brought the bold, spicy heat of a beloved Nigerian street food into the hotel's refined setting. The aromatic spice blend delivered a confident peppery kick, though the meat was noted to be slightly firm, possibly from cooling before serving.

Offering a refreshing contrast was the Greek Salad. This crisp and well-balanced plate featured fresh vegetables, crunchy onion rings, and a creamy tzatziki-style dip, perfect for resetting the palate between richer courses.

Comfort Food and Classic Cocktails

The Grilled Salmon was a simple, satisfying highlight, showcasing a soft and flaky interior. While a citrus-forward glaze could have elevated it further, the dish stood as a clean and comforting option.

True to its form, the Club Sandwich with Fries was a generous and filling classic. Paired with irresistibly golden fries, it delivered the proper comfort food experience many seek during the holidays.

A standout was the Seafood Okra Soup with Pounded Yam. This rich and hearty dish, loaded with fish and prawns, provided a deeply satisfying and nostalgic taste of home, reminding Ndeche why okra soup remains a perennial favourite.

The Perfect Festive Sip

To cap the experience, the Espresso Martini was sampled. This bold, coffee-forward cocktail is strictly for espresso lovers, delivering a smooth, slightly bitter, and energising finish that perfectly complements a festive meal.

This early preview confirms that the Federal Palace Hotel is ready to host memorable festive gatherings. The menu successfully blends Nigerian classics with international comfort foods, offering something for every palate this Christmas season in Lagos.
