Ehigiator Elected President of Edo Montreal Association

In a historic election held on November 23, 2025, Chief Onyenkama Jude Ehigiator has been elected as the seventh President of the Edo People Association of Montreal, Canada. The community leader secured his position without opposition, marking a significant moment for the Nigerian diaspora organization.

A Landmark Achievement for Esan Community

Chief Ehigiator has made history by becoming the first Esan man to lead the prestigious black association in Canada. This breakthrough comes after the association's previous five presidents all originated from the southern region of Edo State. The newly elected president, who holds the traditional title of Olotun of Ekpon Kingdom in Igueben Local Council of Edo State, brings substantial experience to the role.

His extensive background within the association includes previous service as General Secretary and Vice President at different periods. This progression through the ranks provided him with comprehensive understanding of the organization's operations and member needs.

Vision for Transparent Leadership

Following his uncontested election, Chief Ehigiator delivered an acceptance speech where he expressed gratitude to association members for their overwhelming confidence in his leadership. He committed to adhering strictly to his campaign manifesto, which focuses on revitalizing the association for the benefit of all members.

The president-elect emphasized his commitment to transparent governance through structured periodic financial updates. This approach aims to ensure accountability and build trust among the membership. His campaign platform centered on strengthening unity and cultural identity while enhancing collaboration across various professional fields.

New Executive Committee Team

Chief Ehigiator acknowledged that effective leadership requires collective effort, famously noting that "a tree does not make a forest." He called upon the newly elected executive committee members, whom he described as close allies, to collaborate for the administration's success.

The complete leadership team now includes:

  • Engr. Imuentiyan Igbinohodua as Vice President
  • Mr. Robert Oriakhi as General Secretary
  • Engr. Omonghomion Bernard Osadolor as Social Secretary
  • Madam Ivie Osawe as Woman Leader
  • Mr. Evans Omoruyi as Chief Whip
  • Mr. Aigboduwa Uyiososa Tony as Youth Coordinator
  • Mr. Godwin Omoruyi as Public Relations Officer

The Edo People Association of Montreal has been serving the community since its establishment in October 2004. Chief Ehigiator succeeds outgoing President Pius Osadeba Ehinoma, taking the helm of an organization that has become an important institution for Edo citizens living in Montreal, Canada.
