Discovering and Fulfilling God's Divine Purpose for Your Life
Beloved, no life is an accident, and no soul is created without intention. You may have been born into difficult circumstances, raised in confusion, or shaped by painful experiences, yet none of these negate the eternal truth that God formed you with a purpose. Long before you drew your first breath, Heaven had a design for your existence. To live without discovering and fulfilling that purpose is the greatest tragedy of life; to find it and walk in it is the greatest blessing both in time and in eternity.
The Cry for Meaning Beyond Success
The cry of many hearts today is not merely for success, wealth, or recognition, but for meaning. People ask, "Why am I here? What is my life meant for?" The word of God answers them clearly. For example, the Bible says in Ephesians 2:10: "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." God has a plan, and that plan is not vague, uncertain, or unreachable. It is holy, purposeful, and achievable—but only in Christ.
God Is the Author of Your Purpose
Purpose does not originate from human ambition, family expectations, culture, or personal dreams. True purpose begins with God. When a person tries to define life apart from God, confusion is inevitable. Scripture declares: "Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world," (Acts 15:18). God has never improvised with creation; everything He does is intentional. The Prophet Jeremiah was given a profound revelation of this truth: "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee," (Jeremiah 1:5). This was not spoken to Jeremiah alone—it reveals a principle of how God works with every human life. Before your parents knew you, God knew you. Before society defined you, God designed you.
Reconciliation Through Christ
Despite this, many live disconnected from this divine design because of sin. Sin does not merely break rules; it disrupts purpose. When Adam sinned, he did not stop existing, but he stopped functioning according to God's original intent. Likewise, a sinner may be alive physically, educated intellectually, and active religiously, yet spiritually dead and purposeless before God. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God," (Romans 3:23). The first step to fulfilling God's purpose is reconciliation with God through Jesus Christ. Purpose cannot be fulfilled outside God's will, and the will of God cannot be entered without salvation. Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me," (John 14:6). Until a person comes to Christ, they may be successful in the world's eyes, but they are unfulfilled in God's sight. Salvation is not the end of purpose; it is the beginning of it. When a sinner repents and believes the gospel, they are restored to relationship with God and reconnected to divine intention. Paul testified: "And I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision," (Acts 26:19). God revealed His purpose and Paul surrendered to it—at great personal cost, but with eternal reward.
Aligning with God's Glory
God's purpose for your life will always align with His glory. "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God," (1 Corinthians 10:31). Purpose is not about self-exaltation; it is about God-exaltation. The moment a person seeks their own glory, they drift from God's plan. But when they seek God's glory, their life finds true meaning.
Surrender and Obedience in Fulfilling Purpose
Knowing that God has a purpose is one thing; walking in it is another. Purpose is fulfilled not by intention alone, but by surrendering and obedience. Many admire God's will, talk about God's plan, and pray about destiny, yet resist the very steps required to walk in it. Jesus set the ultimate example of surrendered living. He said: "For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me," (John 6:38). Though He was the Son of God, He submitted fully to the Father's will—even unto death. "Not my will, but thine, be done," (Luke 22:42). God's purpose often requires sacrifice. It may demand letting go of sinful habits, ungodly relationships, selfish ambitions, or worldly comforts. Abraham had to leave his country. Moses had to forsake Egypt. Esther had to risk her life. Paul had to abandon his former reputation. None fulfilled God's purpose without total surrender.
The Importance of Complete Obedience
Obedience is not selective. Partial obedience is disobedience in disguise. Saul lost his divine assignment because he obeyed God halfway. The Prophet Samuel told him: "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice," (1 Samuel 15:22). God is not impressed by religious activity if the heart is rebellious. Many ask God to reveal His purpose, but God first asks for their obedience in what He has already revealed. Faithfulness in small things precedes greater assignments. "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much," (Luke 16:10). If you neglect prayer, despise holiness, and ignore God's word, you cannot expect clarity of purpose.
Transformation Through Renewal
God's purpose is also discovered and fulfilled through transformation. "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God," (Romans 12:2). A worldly mind cannot comprehend a heavenly purpose. As the scripture and prayer renew your mind, God's will becomes clearer. Do not fear God's purpose. It is not meant to destroy you, but to complete you. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end," (Jeremiah 29:11). God's purpose may involve trials, but it always leads to eternal gain.
Perseverance in the Journey
Fulfilling God's purpose is not a moment—it is a lifelong journey that must be finished well. It is possible to start well and end poorly, to run eagerly for a season and then turn aside. The Apostle Paul, nearing the end of his life, could say with confidence, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith," (2 Timothy 4:7). What a testimony! Paul did not merely live—he finished! He fulfilled his divine assignment. This should be the desire of every believer: that when life ends, heaven will testify that God's purpose was accomplished. Purpose must be guarded. Distractions, discouragements, persecutions, and temptations will come. Satan's goal is not only to make you sin, but to also make you ineffective. Yet scripture encourages us: "wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us," (Hebrews 12:1). No one fulfills God's purpose without perseverance. There will be seasons of silence, misunderstanding, and waiting. Joseph dreamed in his youth, but waited years in prison before the dream was fulfilled. Yet God was faithful. "Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ," (Philippians 1:6).
Eternal Impact of Purpose
Ultimately, God's purpose is eternal and reaches beyond this present world. Lives lived for God echo into eternity. Souls saved, lives touched, truth proclaimed—these outlast wealth and fame. Jesus said: "Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven," (Matthew 6:20). Beloved, examine your life today. Are you living for yourself or for God? Are you pursuing His will or your own? If you have never surrendered to Christ, that is where purpose begins. Repent of your sins today and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Yield your life fully to Him. If you are already saved, but wandering, kindly return to obedience. Redeem the time. Align your life with God's will. One day, you will stand before Him. On that day, may you hear these words: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," (Matthew 25:21). There is no greater fulfillment, no higher calling, no richer life than fulfilling God's purpose for your life.
Testimony of Divine Healing
Terrible Heart Pain Healed Instantly
My name is Sister Ekaette Onwudiri. I reside at Baruwa, Ijesha, Lagos. I came to The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries for the first time in 2003. My testimony is that last Thursday, I began to experience excruciating heart pain. It was so severe that it defied all medications. As if that was not enough, I started stooling and that lasted all through the night. While this was happening, I was declaring that I am a chosen till dawn. Then, I went to the hospital and doctor said I should go and do a BCG scan test. As the result came out, the doctor told me that there was not enough blood in my body, hence the heart pain. Eventually, I was admitted. But, before then, I attended the women's programme here. During the programme, it was as if I was lifeless because I was very weak and tired. I could not really tell what happened at the programme. However, I went home and the battle continued until last Thursday. As I came here that Thursday, G.O. mounted the pulpit and said we should tap wherever was paining us three times. I did just that and fell under anointing. When I regained myself, G.O, said as he was concluding his prayer that we should tell God what brought us here. I presented my case to God and fell under anointing again. When I recovered, I found out that the heart pain had disappeared. Praise the Lord! God of Chosen is, indeed, great. Now, I can do what I could not do before. Praise the Lord! I pray for our G.O., my family, and all Chosen members worldwide for God to grant us eternal rest in heaven at the end of our lives here on earth in Jesus' name... Amen!
