Akwa Ibom State Government Launches AI-Powered Basic Education Reform Programme
The Akwa Ibom State Government has officially launched an innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered basic education reform programme, designed to significantly improve foundational literacy and numeracy skills for children attending state-owned primary schools. This initiative marks a transformative step in integrating advanced technology into the educational landscape of the region.
Partnership with EIDU for Data-Driven Learning
Implemented in collaboration with EIDU, a global leader specialising in enhancing learning outcomes, the programme introduces a data-driven and AI-enabled approach to teaching and learning. EIDU provides a sophisticated platform that utilises human-centred AI and digital tools to guide teachers with structured lesson plans while offering children personalised, interactive learning activities tailored to their individual progress and needs.
Phased Implementation and Initial Reach
The programme is being rolled out in phases, with the first phase targeting 6,000 pupils across 67 schools during the 2025/2026 academic session. This strategic integration of technology into classroom instruction aims to equip teachers, school leaders, and education managers with real-time insights, enabling them to effectively track student progress and promptly address any learning gaps that may arise.
Alignment with ARISE Agenda and Governor's Vision
Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Essien Umoh, has strongly endorsed the initiative, highlighting its alignment with the ARISE Agenda's commitment to elevating the quality of education in Akwa Ibom State. This development reinforces the aspirations of Governor Umo Bassey Eno, who has consistently emphasised the critical importance of improving learning outcomes for children across the state.
EIDU's Global Impact and Expertise
EIDU partners with over 40 governments across four countries to enhance foundational learning outcomes through its AI-enabled teaching model, currently reaching more than 790,000 children worldwide. This partnership leverages EIDU's proven expertise to bring cutting-edge educational solutions to Akwa Ibom, promising a brighter future for its young learners.
