Education Leaders Advocate for Early Technology Integration in Schools to Drive National Development
In a significant push to enhance Nigeria's educational landscape, prominent figures have emphasized the critical need for adopting technology at an early stage of learning to foster national growth and development. This call was made during a recent event where interactive boards were donated to unity schools across the country.
Call for Technological Adoption in Education
Michael Magaji, the President-General of the Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA), and Gbolahan Ilayomi, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Wowbii Interactive Technology, jointly highlighted the importance of integrating technology into educational institutions. Magaji stated that such adoption serves as a springboard for national growth and nation-building, aligning with the historical mission of unity schools established post-independence to unite Nigerians during their formative years.
Donation of Interactive Boards to Unity Schools
The advocacy was underscored by the presentation of interactive boards by Wowbii to USOSA for distribution to unity schools nationwide. Magaji explained that USOSA was founded to drive transformation and give back to these schools through various means, including financial donations and infrastructure development, such as classrooms, hostels, and digital labs. He noted that this initiative aims not only to boost learning but also to reinforce nation-building efforts, reflecting on the 60-year legacy of unity schools in fostering citizenship and unity.
Impact on Modern Learning and Digital Natives
Magaji emphasized that the donated learning tools will enhance Unity Schools' commitment to digital solutions, modern creativity, and innovative learning techniques. He pointed out that these resources are particularly beneficial for modern students, who are digital natives and familiar with digital technology. The donation includes 20 smart boards from Wowbii, which will be installed in 20 unity schools across Nigeria's geopolitical zones. Magaji believes this will have a lasting and transformative impact on the public education sector, where such tools are greatly needed.
Strategic Contribution to Digital Learning Infrastructure
Earlier in the event, Gbolahan Ilayomi, Founder and Group CEO of Wowbii, explained that the donation of interactive boards is essential to strengthen the digital learning infrastructure across federal colleges in Nigeria. He described supporting USOSA with modern interactive learning technology as a strategic contribution towards improving classroom delivery, enhancing student engagement, and aligning schools with global digital learning standards. This move is seen as a vital step in preparing students for a technology-driven future and supporting national development goals.
