Emir Sanusi Applauds Kano Governor's 30% Education Budget Commitment

Emir of Kano, Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II, has publicly commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his administration's dedication to enhancing education quality, as evidenced by the allocation of 30 per cent of the 2026 state budget to the education sector. The endorsement came during the Eid Fitr Sallah celebrations, highlighting the significance of this financial commitment in fostering qualified teaching and learning environments across Kano State.

Emphasis on Girl Child Education and Personal Academic Pursuits

During his traditional homage at the Government House, Emir Sanusi, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, stressed the critical importance of girl child education in Northern Nigeria. He cautioned parents and husbands against obstructing women's access to quality education, underscoring its role in societal development. Additionally, Sanusi explained his decision to return to university to study law at Northwest University in Kano, stating it was to inspire others in leadership positions to pursue knowledge. He remarked, "Education comes before kingship. A King who acquires education attains greater dignity, but a King without education is entirely a worthless King."

Governor Yusuf's Call for Peace and Development

In response, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by Speaker Ismail Jibrin Falgore of the Kano State House of Assembly, urged residents to prioritize peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, regardless of political or religious differences. He emphasized his administration's commitment to strengthening human development and improving citizen wellbeing, while calling on parents to guide youth towards responsible behavior during the Sallah celebrations.
