This collaboration will focus on key areas such as research, innovation, and vocational studies, aiming to foster academic and practical skills development.

Strategic Meeting with Russian Delegation

The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by a Russian delegation to the Lagos State government, where Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, emphasized the state's pivotal role. "You have made a wise decision to visit Lagos, as it stands as the pride of Africa and is rapidly becoming the Harvard of Nigeria," she stated. Salu-Hundeyin also highlighted the opportunity to include the Yoruba language in Russian educational offerings, noting their existing programs in African languages.

Scholarships and Academic Exchanges

Ekaterina Alexeevna Shuvalova, Advisor to the Rector office at MGIMO University, revealed that Russia is extending scholarships to Nigerian students. "We aim to involve vice-chancellors from our institutions to design effective exchange frameworks," he explained. Sule also recommended that the delegation participate in the European Union's annual Education Fair in Lagos, which has facilitated admissions for many Nigerians to European universities.

Focus on Youth Development

With youths comprising 60% of Lagos State's population, Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende, stressed the importance of creating opportunities. "We are actively seeking domestic and international avenues to support this large youth demographic," he said. The collaboration will include guidance on how youths can apply for the offered scholarships, ensuring broad access to educational benefits.
