A young Nigerian lady, Moyinoluwa Precious Ajayi, has achieved a remarkable academic milestone by earning a PhD in Mass Communication from Babcock University before reaching her late 20s. She shared her inspiring journey on social media, detailing how she obtained three degrees in 11 years, all from the same institution.
Academic Journey and PhD Defense
On her LinkedIn page, Ajayi announced that she successfully defended her PhD thesis on Wednesday, 20th May 2026, marking the conclusion of her program in the Department of Mass Communication at Babcock University. Her post read: 'It is officially done. On Wednesday, 20th May 2026, I successfully defended my PhD thesis (Viva Voce) in the Department of Mass Communication, Babcock University! Looking back, it feels surreal. Finishing a PhD is a mountain on its own, but hitting this milestone and achieving the highest level of education before even reaching my late 20s is a literal dream come true. God truly outdid Himself with this one.'
Gratitude to Supervisors and Examiners
Ajayi expressed profound gratitude to her supervisors, Professor Helen Adekoya (Main Supervisor) and Dr. Emmanuel Ikpegbu (Co-Supervisor), for their guidance. She also thanked her examiners: External Examiner Professor Stanislaus Iyorza from the University of Calabar and Internal Examiner Dr. Bose Makinde from Babcock University. She acknowledged their rigorous review and invaluable insights during the defense session.
'Thank you all for an enriching and elevating defence session! To my lecturers, family, sister, friends, and everyone who held me up in prayer and support through the tears, the sleepless nights, and the triumphs, this victory is ours. 11 years, 3 degrees, 1 great University, and now... a whole Doctorate.
