A 17-year-old accounting student at Babcock University, Sirat Oladipupo, has shared five important lessons she learned outside the lecture halls. She resumed school on October 29, 2025, initially thinking she was only there for a degree. However, months later, she realized the most valuable lessons come from hostel life and daily interactions with new people.
Lessons Beyond Textbooks
In a LinkedIn post from February, Sirat wrote: "I resumed at Babcock University on October 29th, 2025, thinking I was just there for a degree. But a few months in, I’ve realized that the most important lessons aren't happening inside the lecture rooms. They are happening in the hostels, and the daily interactions with people I’ve never met before. School is teaching me how to build a character, not just a career. I’m learning things that no textbook could ever explain, like how to lead with service and how to show up with true intentionality."
The Five Lessons
Sirat listed five key lessons she has learned at Babcock University:
- Patience and genuine help: She learned to be patient and help others selflessly, rather than focusing only on herself.
- Tolerance: She noted that tolerance is not always easy but is a necessary skill.
- Confidence: Babcock University elevated her confidence to a new level. She no longer shrinks back and can approach anyone, share her thoughts, and show up boldly without fear.
- Service: Service is a core value at the institution, and she embraced it.
- Intentionality: She learned to carry herself with purpose, including dressing presentably, being punctual, and being intentional about how she shows up.

AK DESIGNS said: "It’s amazing how the lessons outside the classroom often shape us more deeply than the ones inside. Thanks for sharing your perspective!" Margaret Babalola added: "I love that you are not just learning, learning beyond the lecture rooms also."
