Senator Barau Hosts 26 Postgraduate Scholars Upon Return from India
Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Deputy President of the Senate, warmly received 26 postgraduate students on Tuesday at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport after they successfully completed their studies in India. These scholars, who are beneficiaries of the Barau I. Jibrin Education Foundation, have excelled in specialized fields such as cybersecurity and forensic science as well as artificial intelligence and machine learning, demonstrating the value of the human investment opportunity provided by Senator Jibrin.
Academic Excellence and Human Capital Development
During the reception, Senator Jibrin, represented by his Chief of Staff, Professor Bashir Mohammad Fagge, expressed great satisfaction with the academic achievements of this first batch of foreign-trained scholars. He emphasized that this investment is expected to significantly enhance human capital development and productivity in Kano and Northern Nigeria. The Deputy President of the Senate was optimistic that the new skills and knowledge acquired by the scholars would help fill critical gaps in their areas of specialization and contribute to reducing unemployment rates in the region.
Professor Fagge described the scholarship initiative as a strategic investment that not only enables access to postgraduate studies for brilliant students but also breaks barriers to pursuing greater academic heights. He encouraged the beneficiaries to prepare for the next phase of the program, which will focus on PhD programmes, stressing the importance of continuous academic advancement and maintaining their roles as worthy ambassadors of the initiative.

In his remarks, Alhaji Shitu Madaki, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gari Local Government Area, congratulated the graduates on their achievement. He urged them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired abroad toward the development of Kano North, Kano State, and Nigeria as a whole. Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Aliyu Ibrahim expressed deep appreciation to Senator Barau Jibrin for the scholarship, assuring that they would not let down the confidence placed in them.
