Lady Clears ICAN Skills Level in One Attempt
A Nigerian lady has taken social media by storm after revealing that she passed all six subjects of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Skills Level examination in a single sitting. The achievement, which she described as a miracle, has drawn widespread admiration and sparked conversations about effective study techniques for professional exams.
Minikwu Cherish Homachi, who shared her result on X (formerly Twitter) under the handle @minikwu, posted a screenshot of her provisional result slip showing a clean sweep across all papers. According to the document, which is dated for the 2026 examination diet, Homachi sat for six papers and exceeded the ICAN pass mark of 50 in every subject.
Performance Breakdown and Top Scores
Her strongest performance came in Performance Management, where she scored 75. Financial Management followed closely with 74, and Financial Reporting came next at 73. Audit, Assurance and Forensics earned her 67, while Public Sector Accounting and Finance stood at 59. Taxation, often considered a challenging paper, recorded 57. All scores comfortably cleared the 50-point threshold required for a pass.
The result slip, marked as provisional and not valid for official transactions, confirmed that Homachi had completed the Skills Level stage of the ICAN qualification. This means she is now eligible to progress to the Professional Level, the final stage before becoming a chartered accountant.
Homachi Shares Her Exam Strategy
In her celebratory post, Homachi wrote: "6/6. 6 months later. I can’t believe it God. ICAN Skills level in one sitting. I started reading veryyyyy early and I had to leave my social life for a while. I also attended physical class." Her strategy emphasised early preparation, sacrifice of social activities, and consistent attendance at physical tuition classes.
The post quickly went viral, drawing hundreds of reactions from Nigerians who either congratulated her or shared their own experiences with ICAN exams.
Reactions from Social Media Users
Many users praised her discipline and sought advice. A user named Wisdom asked: "Pls since you have written both bar finals and skills, can you please compare them in terms of technicality and rigorous?" Another user, Sani, inquired: "What were your strategies? I’m about to take this route too. Sitting for 6?"
Cintabella, who also passed four papers in one sitting, commented: "6 in one sitting is crazyyyy. I'm proud of you dear. Wrote 4 and passed all too." Iyiola Jr set a target: "Congratulations. This is my target this coming diet after clearing the foundation. Hopefully, I will be able to come back and quote this tweet with God did by December."
Joshua simply said: "Congratulations to you. We are in for Professionals." Meanwhile, a user named @Wandekiks raised a query about exemption procedures: "I dey foundation level. I was exempted for one paper of which I paid for exemption fee. I passed all the 3 papers and d only one that was exempted for me. I saw 'To be attempted' instead of 'Exempted'. Me I no quite understand this logic pls who can explain to me?"
Broader Context: ICAN and Professional Exams in Nigeria
ICAN is the premier professional accounting body in Nigeria, and its examinations are known for their rigour. The Skills Level is the second stage of the ICAN qualification, following the Foundation Level and preceding the Professional Level. Candidates typically take several years to complete all stages, making Homachi's one-sitting success at this level particularly noteworthy.
Her story adds to a growing trend of young Nigerians sharing their academic milestones online, inspiring others to pursue professional certifications despite the challenges.
