NLNG has renewed its call for stronger innovation and the practical application of scientific knowledge among young Nigerians as it concluded the 2026 edition of its Science Contest in Rivers State.
Grand Finale in Port Harcourt
Speaking at the grand finale of the competition in Port Harcourt, NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Sophia Horsfall, described the programme as a catalyst for academic excellence and innovation. She stated that the company had redesigned the competition to strengthen students’ foundational knowledge in Mathematics, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Physics, Chemistry and Biology, while encouraging the application of science to solving real-world problems.
According to her, the competition has evolved from a traditional science quiz into a broader science contest aimed at equipping students with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
“The world has enough fast talkers. It is now time to empower problem-solvers who will drive our technological future. Our goal is to go beyond textbooks by sparking the critical thinking and innovation that the world urgently needs,” Horsfall said.
