Olubadan Celebrates Adedoja at 75, Lauds Contributions to Education
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has described renowned educationist and former Minister of Sports and Special Duties, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, as an illustrious son of Ibadanland whose life and contributions to national development deserve celebration.
The monarch stated this in a congratulatory message to mark Adedoja’s 75th birthday anniversary. Oba Ladoja commended the former minister for his enduring contributions to education development, leadership, and institutional growth in Nigeria.
He noted that Adedoja, who currently serves as the pioneer Director-General of the Teachers Continuous Training Institute (TCTI), Cross River State, has remained at the forefront of efforts aimed at bridging gaps in teachers’ professional development across Nigeria and West Africa. According to the monarch, the institute has distinguished itself as the first digital literacy proficiency institution dedicated to enhancing teachers’ capacity and competence in the education sector.
“As an educator and institution builder, Prof. Adedoja had the opportunity of working with me as Chairman of the Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) when I served as governor of Oyo State between 2003 and 2007,” the monarch said. “The Balogun Agbaoye played a significant role during the comprehensive education reforms we carried out, which culminated in the implementation of the 30 pupils per class policy. If Oyo State attained the position of the second-best performing state in education among the 36 states of the federation during that period, it was largely because of the lofty contributions of people like the celebrant,” he added.
The Olubadan, who is also the Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, prayed for continued strength, wisdom, and good health for the academic, urging him to sustain his efforts in mentoring younger generations and advancing quality education in the country. The statement was signed by the monarch’s Media Aide, Adeola Oloko.
