Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has assured the 1,584 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members currently undergoing orientation at the Umunna Bende orientation camp of a safe and conducive environment throughout their stay. The governor gave the assurance during his visit to the camp on Thursday.

Governor's Commitment to Security

Otti emphasized that his administration is committed to ensuring the security and welfare of all corps members. He noted that the state government has put in place adequate security measures to protect the corps members and their property. The governor also promised to address any challenges that may arise during the orientation exercise.

Welfare and Facilities

The governor inspected the camp facilities, including the kitchen, dining hall, and medical center. He expressed satisfaction with the level of preparedness and urged the corps members to take advantage of the skills acquisition programs offered at the camp. Otti also announced that the state government would provide additional buses to ease transportation for the corps members.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Chiwendu Ude, commended the governor for his support and prompt response to the needs of the scheme. She noted that the camp has recorded no security incidents so far and that the corps members are in high spirits.

The corps members expressed gratitude to the governor for his visit and assurances. They pledged to contribute meaningfully to the development of Abia State during their service year.
