A student who applied to study Medicine at the University of Ibadan (UI) has shared his post-UTME experience after missing the cut-off mark for his desired course. He disclosed the score he obtained in the examination and the alternative programme he was admitted into.
Background of the Aspirant
According to the man, he had already completed a degree in 2014 and decided to pursue another degree in Medicine and Surgery. He sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and achieved a very high score, which gave him confidence for the post-UTME screening. Following advice from others, he chose the University of Ibadan as his preferred institution.
Post-UTME Score and Transfer
In a TikTok video, the aspirant revealed that when the post-UTME results were released, he scored 71 out of 100. Unfortunately, this score was not enough to meet the cut-off mark for Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). As a result, the university transferred him to Veterinary Medicine. He expressed that while he was disappointed, he was consoled by the offer.
Reactions from Social Media Users
The video attracted numerous comments from followers who congratulated him and encouraged him. Some users pointed out that Veterinary Medicine is still a medical field, with one commenter stating that humans are essentially higher animals. Others simply offered their congratulations and best wishes for his academic journey.
