The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Distance Learning Institute (DLI) has opened applications for the 2026/2027 academic session, offering undergraduate programmes without the requirement of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
No UTME Required for DLI Admission
UNILAG announced the opening via its official X handle on June 30, 2026, stating, "No UTME, No Stress - Just Success!" This signifies that prospective students can apply for the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes without sitting for the UTME.
Available Courses
The DLI is offering B.Sc. programmes in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, and Public Administration. Education-related programmes include B.Sc. (Ed.) Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, B.Ed. Early Childhood Education, Educational Management, Guidance and Counselling, Business Education, and B.A. (Ed.) English. All programmes are delivered via a flexible ODL system.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must have at least five credits in SSCE, GCE, or NECO examinations, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings. For Year Two entry, qualifications such as NCE, ND (Lower Credit minimum), JUPEB, IJMB, or GCE Advanced Level certificates are accepted. Year Three applicants may use HND (Lower Credit minimum), a bachelor's degree (Third Class minimum), with NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificates. Professional qualifications like ICAN, ACA, ACIB, ANAN, ACCA, ACMA, ACIS CM, CIBN, and ANACI are also accepted for some Year Three applicants. Candidates awaiting results are not eligible. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by October 31, 2026, and possess basic ICT skills.
Application Fee and Process
The application fee is ₦20,000. The process involves two stages: first, apply via the UNILAG application portal, complete the form, upload documents, and submit online. Second, log on to the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAP) website, pay ₦3,500, and obtain a registration number. Completed forms must be submitted by December 31, 2026. UNILAG Warns Against Fake Information
UNILAG has cautioned applicants to rely only on official channels for admission updates, as fake information circulates online. Post-UTME details, cut-off marks, and screening schedules will only be released through verified platforms.
