UNILAG Warns Admission Seekers Against Misinformation

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has issued a crucial advisory for prospective students seeking admission for the 2026/2027 academic session, urging them to rely exclusively on its official communication channels for accurate information. The institution warned candidates against falling prey to misinformation, fraudulent claims, and unauthorised announcements circulating from unofficial sources.

Official Channels for Admission Information

In a statement released by the university's Communication Unit and signed by its Head, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, UNILAG emphasised that all admission-related information—including Post-UTME screening details, eligibility requirements, registration procedures, cut-off marks, available courses, and screening schedules—will be disseminated only through its official platforms. The university identified its official website as the primary source for accurate and current updates, urging candidates to monitor it regularly.

The advisory comes amid growing concerns over the activities of fraudsters and misinformation peddlers who exploit admission periods to deceive candidates and their families. UNILAG cautioned prospective applicants to ignore any claims that do not originate from its authorised platforms.

Post-UTME Screening Guidelines

UNILAG also encouraged prospective applicants to familiarise themselves with the requirements for the 2026/2027 Post-UTME Screening Exercise and ensure full compliance with published instructions. The university stressed the importance of following all guidelines carefully to avoid disqualification or delays in the admission process.

To assist applicants, the university provided dedicated channels for inquiries. Candidates seeking clarification on the Post-UTME screening exercise can contact the institution via its designated email address (postutme@unilag.edu.ng) or telephone lines (09053006772 or 08141656802).

Call for Vigilance

The university further called on members of the public to remain vigilant and verify any admission-related information before taking action. UNILAG reiterated that it bears no responsibility for actions taken based on false or unauthorised information.

This advisory aligns with UNILAG's commitment to maintaining transparency and integrity in its admission process. Prospective students are advised to bookmark the official UNILAG website and ignore any unofficial social media accounts, blogs, or third-party platforms claiming to represent the university.
