The Vice-Chancellor of Bauchi State University, Professor Muhammad Abdulaziz, has commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his unwavering support for the institution. Speaking during a visit to the Government House in Bauchi, Abdulaziz highlighted the governor’s contributions to infrastructure development, staff welfare, and academic programmes, which have significantly enhanced the university’s growth and reputation.
Governor’s Support Boosts University’s Development
Professor Abdulaziz noted that the state government has released substantial funds for the construction of new lecture halls, laboratories, and a library, as well as for the renovation of existing facilities. He stated that the university has also benefited from regular payment of subventions and timely release of staff salaries, which has improved morale and productivity among faculty and administrative personnel.
“The governor’s commitment to education is evident in his administration’s consistent allocation of resources to our university. This has enabled us to expand our academic programmes and admit more students, while maintaining high standards of teaching and research,” Abdulaziz said.
Infrastructure and Academic Expansion
The university has recorded a 20 percent increase in student enrollment over the past two years, attributed to the improved facilities and enhanced learning environment. New academic programmes in science, technology, and vocational studies have been introduced, aligning with the state’s development goals and national education priorities.
Abdulaziz also praised the governor for supporting the university’s research initiatives, including grants for studies on local agriculture and public health. These projects, he said, have not only advanced knowledge but also provided practical solutions to community challenges.
Governor Reaffirms Commitment to Education
In response, Governor Bala Mohammed reiterated his administration’s dedication to making quality education accessible to all citizens. He pledged continued support for the university, including plans to establish new faculties and improve digital infrastructure for e-learning. “Education is the bedrock of development, and we will not relent in our efforts to strengthen our tertiary institutions,” the governor stated.
The Vice-Chancellor also acknowledged the efforts of the university’s governing council and staff for their roles in achieving these milestones. He urged other stakeholders to emulate the state government’s example in supporting higher education, stressing that collaboration is essential for sustainable growth.
The visit culminated in a tour of ongoing projects at the university, which are expected to be completed within the next academic session, further enhancing the institution’s capacity to serve students and the wider community.
