The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially launched a new update service that permits candidates who have lost access to their registered phone numbers or email addresses to change these details. The service, which began on September 21, 2026, is available only at approved JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres and state offices, and candidates must undergo strict identity and biometric verification before any changes are made.
New Update Service Officially Announced
JAMB made the announcement on Monday, September 21, 2026, through its official X account, confirming that the service had started. According to the board, the update is aimed at helping candidates with legitimate cases, such as losing their SIM cards, changing phone numbers without updating their JAMB profiles, or being locked out of their registered email accounts.
The board emphasized that the process is not a simple walk-in update. Candidates must prove they are the rightful owners of the profiles they seek to modify. JAMB also introduced a single-opportunity policy, meaning each candidate can use the service only once.
Strict Verification and Single-Use Policy
“Please note: The service can be accessed only once and is subject to strict identity and biometric verification,” JAMB said. The board also warned candidates to avoid middlemen and unofficial channels promising to help them change their details. “For your security, use only designated JAMB centres and avoid unauthorised persons or channels,” it added.
With the new policy, eligible candidates can request changes to their registered GSM numbers, email addresses, or both, but they will only have one opportunity to complete the process. JAMB advised candidates to visit only approved centres to avoid falling victim to fraudsters who may take advantage of the situation.
Part of JAMB’s Support Initiatives
The latest update is part of JAMB’s JCARE and JAMB Updates initiatives, aimed at improving support services for candidates. Officials warned candidates against using unauthorized middlemen or fraudulent channels for profile updates. The move is expected to provide relief to many candidates who have long struggled with the headache of losing access to the contact details linked to their JAMB profiles.
