JAMB Clarifies UTME Result Printing Delay, Advises Candidates on Access

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has officially addressed widespread complaints from candidates regarding their inability to print Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results through the official portal. Many candidates have expressed frustration after checking their scores but finding the printing function unavailable.

Phased Release Strategy Explained

JAMB has clarified that the restriction on printing results is intentional and part of a carefully planned phased release strategy. According to the examination body, the current stage of the process only permits candidates to view their results, with printing capabilities scheduled to be enabled at a later date.

The board emphasized that this approach is not due to any technical fault or system failure, but rather a standard procedure designed to ensure accuracy and proper verification before granting full access to result documents.

Current Result Checking Method

Fabian Benjamin, JAMB's spokesperson, outlined the approved method for checking results in a recent statement. "To check their results, candidates should send UTMERESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number used during registration," he explained. "At this stage, candidates may view their results only; printing is not yet available."

The board has confirmed that results are being released in phases, with certain services deliberately restricted until the entire process is fully completed. This means candidates can confirm their scores but cannot yet generate official printouts from the portal.

Advice for Candidates Without Registration SIM Cards

JAMB has specifically addressed concerns from candidates who no longer have access to the SIM cards used during their registration process. The board advised these individuals to wait patiently until additional options are provided or until the next phase of the process is activated.

The examination body maintains that this phased approach helps maintain the integrity of the examination process and ensures that all results undergo proper verification before becoming fully accessible to candidates.

Background on JAMB's Examination Integrity Measures

This announcement comes as JAMB continues to implement strict measures to protect the credibility of its examinations. Recently, the board has been involved in several cases highlighting its commitment to examination integrity:

  • A Federal High Court in Katsina sentenced Ibrahim Abdulaziz to three years in prison for impersonation during the UTME
  • JAMB released a strict list of 23 items banned from UTME examination halls for the 2026 session
  • The board confirmed the re-arrest of a suspected examination fraudster, Emmanuel Akataka, linked to UTME-related schemes

These measures underscore JAMB's ongoing efforts to maintain the highest standards in Nigeria's tertiary education admission process while ensuring fairness and transparency for all candidates.
