JAMB Releases 2026 UTME Mock Results, Delists 20 CBT Centers Over Technical Inadequacies
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the release of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock test. In a significant move, the board has also delisted 20 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers from its roster of approved facilities, citing technical inadequacies identified during the recent mock examination.
Details of the Mock Examination and Center Delisting
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the spokesperson for JAMB, disclosed these developments in a statement issued from Abuja. According to the statement, a total of 224,597 candidates registered for the mock examination, with 152,586 candidates successfully sitting for the test. The exercise was conducted across 989 CBT centers nationwide, highlighting the scale of the operation.
The 20 centers were removed due to failures in meeting technical standards during the mock test held last Saturday. This action underscores JAMB's commitment to maintaining integrity and efficiency in its examination processes. The board emphasized that such measures are necessary to ensure a smooth and credible main UTME, which is scheduled to commence on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Implications for the Upcoming Main UTME
The delisting of these centers serves as a warning to other CBT facilities to adhere strictly to JAMB's technical requirements. Candidates and stakeholders are advised to verify the status of their chosen centers ahead of the main examination to avoid any disruptions. This proactive step aims to prevent technical glitches that could compromise the examination's fairness and reliability.
JAMB has reiterated its dedication to providing a seamless examination experience for all candidates, and the release of the mock results allows students to assess their preparedness for the main UTME. The board encourages candidates to review their results and address any areas of weakness before the actual test.
Related Development: MDCN Increases Dental Admission Quota at UNN
In a separate but noteworthy development, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has significantly boosted the training capacity for dental surgeons in the South-East region. The council has increased the admission quota for the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) from 15 to 60 students.
This decision positions UNN's Faculty of Dentistry as the highest quota holder for dental student admissions in Nigeria. For the past 14 years, the faculty had been operating under a restrictive quota of 15 students, which had hindered the practice and development of dentistry in the region.
An accreditation team from MDCN approved the additional slots after a thorough assessment of the faculty's facilities and personnel. Prof. Linda Oge Okoye, the Dean of the Faculty, expressed enthusiasm about this development, stating that it will provide more opportunities for aspiring dental surgeons and enhance healthcare services in the area.
This expansion is expected to address the shortage of dental professionals in the region and improve overall dental healthcare delivery. It aligns with broader efforts to strengthen medical education and training across Nigeria.
