JAMB Implements Last-Minute Revisions to 2026 UTME Examination Timetable
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced a significant revision to the timetable for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, introducing adjusted session structures just days before the nationwide assessment begins. This unexpected change affects daily session timings across accredited Computer-Based Test centres, with the examination scheduled to commence this week.
Updated Daily Session Structures for Monday Through Thursday
According to the new schedule released on JAMB's official social media platform, candidates will participate in four daily sessions from Monday to Thursday. The board has maintained this structure but implemented specific timing adjustments to streamline candidate movement and enhance operational efficiency.
- Session 1: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, with a reporting time of 7:00 AM
- Session 2: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with a reporting time of 9:00 AM
- Session 3: 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, with a reporting time of 11:00 AM
- Session 4: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a reporting time of 2:00 PM
Candidates are expected to arrive at their designated centres well in advance of their scheduled reporting times to ensure smooth entry and preparation for the examination.
Friday Schedule Adjustments and Reserved Session Slot
The Friday examination schedule introduces specific modifications, maintaining similar timing for the first two sessions but designating Session 3 as reserved. This adjustment requires particular attention from candidates assigned to later slots on this day.
- Session 1: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM, consistent with earlier weekdays
- Session 2: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, unchanged from previous days
- Session 3: Reserved slot from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
- Session 4: 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, fixed timing for final sessions
JAMB has strongly advised all candidates to carefully verify their assigned session details through official channels before the examination period. The board emphasizes that punctuality and strict adherence to instructions will be crucial for the successful conduct of this nationwide assessment.
Context of Previous JAMB Announcements for 2026 UTME
This timetable revision follows earlier announcements from JAMB regarding the 2026 examination cycle. The board previously released a comprehensive list of prohibited items for UTME halls, restricting candidates to only an HB pencil and examination slip within CBT centres. Additionally, JAMB had fixed January 26 as the start date for selling application forms for the 2026 UTME and Direct Entry admissions, with registration guidelines requiring a National Identification Number and valid email address.
The examination forms will be available for purchase from January 31 to March 8, 2026, covering admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session. Candidates are reminded to comply fully with all guidelines to avoid disqualification and ensure a smooth examination experience.
