Alhaji Nawuya Wushishi, a revered community leader from the Wushishi Local Government Area in Niger State, passed away at the remarkable age of 106 years. The sad event was officially confirmed in a statement released on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

The statement was issued by the Ag. Director of Information and Public Relations for NECO, Azeez Sani. It conveyed the council's condolences to Professor Wushishi and his entire family during this period of profound loss.

In accordance with Islamic tradition, the final rites for the late community leader have been performed. The family and the community have committed his soul to God, with prayers for Aljanah firdausi (the highest paradise).
