Foundation Gives Business Aid to 25 Special Needs Parents

In a heartwarming celebration of its third anniversary, The Oyetty Foundation has delivered significant support to families raising children with special needs in Lagos. The foundation's latest initiative focused on practical empowerment, providing crucial business assistance to 25 parents and presenting a Suzuki Mini Bus to one deserving family.

A Gesture That Eases Daily Burdens

The event, held on 6 December 2025, was marked by emotional reactions from attendees. The support package is designed to alleviate the substantial challenges these families face, particularly regarding mobility and the relentless demands of daily care. The foundation presented the Suzuki Mini Bus to Mr. Adenrele Onipede, a parent from the Modupe Cole Special School in Akoka, Lagos.

Founder Mrs. Oyetola Akande spoke at the ceremony, reflecting on the organization's journey and the expanding reach of its programmes. "We have supported many parents in ways that help them rebuild their lives," she stated. Akande highlighted diverse outcomes from their work, noting that some beneficiaries have launched businesses, others have returned to school, and several have secured employment.

Mission Focused on Empowerment and Self-Care

Mrs. Akande reiterated the foundation's core mission: to empower parents who care for children with mental and developmental conditions. She directly addressed parents, encouraging them to embrace their children with love and patience. Importantly, she emphasized that effective caregiving must begin with self-care, as this enables parents to offer the best possible support to their children.

During the event, Mrs. Oluwatomi Alakija presented the foundation's annual scorecard, revealing impressive figures. In the past year alone, over 25 parents received direct support. Since the foundation began its work, more than 60 families have benefited from its various programmes.

A key revelation was the scale of economic investment. Mrs. Alakija disclosed that the foundation has provided business support valued at over ₦79 million. This substantial financial injection aims to help parents revive and sustain their livelihoods, creating a more stable future for their families.

Testimonies of Transformation and Team Dedication

The impact of the foundation's work was powerfully conveyed through personal stories. Beneficiary Mrs. Adeosun Anike shared her testimony, describing a personal journey of overcoming immense difficulties before finding The Oyetty Foundation. She characterized the organization's support as nothing less than life-changing.

Mr. Olusegun Akande, the founder's husband, commended the foundation's team for their unwavering consistency, compassion, and dedication to assisting families in need. He encouraged them to continue executing their mission with excellence.

Team member Isola Oladimeji expressed gratitude to partner schools, parents, and teachers for their patience and resilience. He underscored their indispensable role in fostering the growth and development of the children, highlighting the collaborative nature of the foundation's success.

The anniversary event served as a powerful reminder of the transformative effect that targeted, compassionate support can have on families navigating the challenges of raising children with special needs, offering them not just aid, but hope and a path to sustainable independence.
