A young Nigerian lady has shared her frustration online after her Swedish Schengen visa application was refused for three reasons she claims do not correspond with the information she submitted. The applicant, identified on TikTok as @caramel_limaa, said she and her sister applied for the same visa with the same itinerary, but while her sister's application was approved, hers was rejected.
Three Reasons for Refusal
In a video posted on the platform, the lady read out the reasons stated in the refusal letter she received days after submitting her application. The first reason, according to her, was that she booked an apartment instead of a hotel. "They claimed that I booked an apartment instead of a hotel," she said. The second reason was that the apartment was in the countryside, even though she said her hotel was in Stockholm. "My hotel was in Stockholm. As you may have already guessed, yes, it was Sweden," she added.
The third reason was that the letter claimed she said she was going on a picnic, something she insists she never included in her itinerary. "Also, they mentioned a picnic, saying that I said I was going to go on a picnic. Nowhere in my itinerary did I mention anything about a picnic, so I was so confused, like whose application did these people even review?" she questioned.
Appeal and Reactions
After receiving the refusal, she said she sent an email to the Swedish authorities to point out the inconsistencies. "I did send them an email just to point out the inconsistencies and set things straight. Overall, I think it was a really disappointing experience. Has anyone experienced this from Sweden?" she asked her viewers.
Many social media users reacted to her story. A user named RaeRae commented: "Hahhahahaha! Had same from Sweden, they said my accommodation was too far from the City Centre. It was 50mins by Bus ooo." Another user, Bamsxo, advised: "Hi, please appeal, because you were unfairly denied. Even if you are no longer interested- at least get your money back. Don’t have that denial on immigration record."
