A Nigerian man, Timothy Adewole, a graduate of Covenant University, has reacted to negative rumours about the institution by sharing his personal undergraduate experience. In a detailed LinkedIn post, Adewole addressed common criticisms while expressing profound gratitude for how the university shaped his life.
Graduate Defends Covenant University Amid Criticism
On his LinkedIn page, Adewole acknowledged the widespread rumours and hate directed at Covenant University, describing claims that the school is “overpriced, poorly administered, full of fake people… and an endless list.” Despite these allegations, he stated unequivocally, “I’m glad I went to Covenant University.” He emphasised that his five years at the institution were transformative, moving him “from boyhood to manhood” and instilling a “burning passion for global relevance.”
Transformative Impact Beyond Academics
Adewole detailed the specific benefits he received from Covenant University, which he said extended far beyond academics. These included a chaplaincy that fueled his spiritual fire and leadership, relationships that became his drive, a safe learning environment free from criminality, and classes such as TMC (Total Man Concept), DLD (Dynamic Leadership Development), EDS (Entrepreneurial Development Studies), and TTG (Time, Talent, and Gift) that broadened his perspective and refined his leadership. He also credited professors and lecturers who became mentors and a spiritual covering he did not know he needed.
He noted that his parents saw Covenant University as “their desperate hope—that their son would become something meaningful they could be proud of.” Adewole affirmed that this hope was achieved “a thousand times, yes.” He added that the university gave him “a name that opens doors: EAGLE.”
Gratitude and Call to Fellow Alumni
Reflecting on his graduation scroll, Adewole expressed being “overwhelmed with gratitude.” He called on fellow alumni to share what Covenant University gave them, reinforcing that thousands of graduates across the globe trace their roots to Canaanland, the university's campus. He concluded that while no system is perfect, the institution's impact should not be erased by focusing on its weak spots.
The post triggered reactions on LinkedIn, with many people congratulating the graduate on his academic feat.
