The management of the Federal University, Dutsinma (FUDMA), has approved the expulsion of one student and the rustication of 51 others for examination misconduct. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the institution's Director of Information and Protocol, Nasiru Abdul.
The affected students were found guilty of offenses committed during the First Semester of the 2025/2026 academic session. The decision was made at the university's 139th Regular Senate Meeting held on May 5, 2026, which was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Mohammed Khalid Othman.
According to the statement, the disciplinary action aligns with Section 13.3, Sub-section 13.3(c) of the university's Academic Policy on Examination Irregularity and Academic Misconduct. The students were found culpable after appearing before FUDMA's Committee on Examination Misconduct, which recommended sanctions that were subsequently approved by the Senate.
These latest sanctions bring the total number of students disciplined for examination-related offenses to 72, following an earlier batch of 20 students who were rusticated in March 2026. The rustication will last for two semesters, effective from the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session.
The affected students come from various faculties, including Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Computing, and the College of Education. One student was expelled, while the others received sanctions for different forms of examination malpractice.
The university reiterated its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and enforcing disciplinary measures against acts that could undermine the credibility of its academic standards.
