LAUTECH Dismisses Shutdown Rumors Over Bandit Fears

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has officially refuted viral social media claims that the institution was shut down due to fears of bandit attacks. The university categorically described these reports as false and baseless, emphasizing that academic activities, including ongoing examinations, continue without any disruption.

In a statement issued by the university's Public Relations Officer (PRO), Olalekan Fadeyi, on behalf of the Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka Balogun, the institution reassured students, parents, and guardians that there is no immediate security threat that would warrant the closure of the university. The management highlighted that students are actively participating in their examinations, and the exercise will proceed as planned.

“This is to strongly debunk the rumour making the rounds that the management of LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, has closed down the university for fear of invasion by bandits,” the statement read. “This is to inform our students, their parents and guardians that there is no immediate reason for management of LAUTECH to close down the university; therefore, the university is still in session.”

The institution further noted that the rumour had caused unnecessary anxiety among members of the university community and the general public. Management expressed regret over the inconvenience and confusion the false reports may have generated, while urging students and parents to disregard unverified information circulating online.

The clarification came amid heightened security concerns in parts of Oyo State following recent attacks and abductions in some communities within Oriire Local Government Area. Despite growing concerns over security in parts of the state, the university maintained that normal academic activities remain uninterrupted on campus.
