In a significant move set to reshape the landscape of Islamic education in Nigeria, the Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT) has announced a landmark partnership with the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.
A Strategic Alliance for Academic Excellence
This groundbreaking agreement, confirmed on 21 November 2025, represents the culmination of years of strategic planning and a shared vision for academic excellence. A core component of the partnership involves the secondment of scholars from Al-Azhar University to NASFAT-owned institutions, including Fountain University in Osogbo.
Alhaji Ayodeji AbdulWahid AbdulRauf, the President of NASFAT, emphasized that this collaboration is a direct reflection of the Society's long-standing goal to elevate academic standards and foster global cooperation in the field of Islamic scholarship.
Key Figures and a New Chapter for Learning
NASFAT officially acknowledged the crucial roles played by several distinguished individuals in securing this historic agreement. These include:
- Dr Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar
- Fadeelat Sheikh Reda Muhammad
- Muhammed Fouad, the Egyptian Ambassador to Nigeria
- Sheikh Saheed of Ma’hd Al-Azhary in Mowe, Ogun State
The Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Imam Maroofdeen AbdulAzeez Onike, warmly welcomed the arriving scholars from Egypt. He stated that their presence heralds the beginning of a new, more structured phase of Islamic learning across all NASFAT-affiliated centres.

According to Imam Onike, the expertise brought by the Al-Azhar scholars will profoundly improve students' comprehension of classical Islamic studies. It is also expected to significantly enrich the academic programmes at Fountain University and other NASFAT educational centres.
