A University of Ibadan graduate has inspired many online after sharing the heartbreaking story of how she lost her entire family during her academic journey but still managed to earn her bachelor's degree.
Graduate Loses Parents and Siblings
The graduate, known on TikTok as @rhayor_xoxo, revealed that she lost her parents and two siblings while pursuing her degree. She dedicated her achievement to their memory.
According to her, the tragedy began in 2017 when her younger brother Samuel passed away while she was in Senior Secondary School 3. In 2020, shortly after gaining admission to the University of Ibadan, her younger sister died from a brief illness.
Adeola, the graduate, said: "I was no longer myself because I deeply pitied my mum and dad; my sister and I were their hope. Yet, they could neither fight nor question God."
Another Tragedy Strikes
While in her 200 level, Adeola lost her mother in 2023, whom she described as her backbone and greatest supporter. Her mother's death left her hopeless and traumatized, but she continued her education with support from God and her uncles.
In 2025, her father passed away. He had called her on November 15, asking her to come home after exams because he wanted to see her. Two days later, she received the heartbreaking news of his death.
Adeola wrote: "Then, on the 17th, I received the heartbreaking call that he had passed away. God knows best."
Graduation and Dedication
Despite these losses, Adeola successfully completed her studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Ibadan. She dedicated the degree to her late parents, brother, and sister.
She stated: "Today, I, Adeola, have bagged this degree for my late parents and siblings. May your souls continue to rest in perfect peace."
Social media users reacted with sympathy and congratulations. CHIZZY Babe said: "Don't know what to type. Congratulations." Adeife commented: "While reading this, I was crying. You made it. Congratulations, stranger. Please be strong."
