A young Nigerian lady, Mabel Aruwajoye, has shared her remarkable academic journey after graduating from the University of Ibadan with a degree in Medical Laboratory Science. She completed secondary school at the age of 12 and later faced challenges gaining admission into the university.
Academic Struggle and Triumph
On her LinkedIn page, Mabel recounted how she graduated as the best graduating student from secondary school at 12. Despite passing the cutoff, she did not gain admission initially. Her parents enrolled her in Cambridge A Levels at Educonsult, where she struggled, but with guidance from Mr. Peters Abiodun, she transferred to EAC and earned an A*AB in 2020.
In 2021, she gained direct entry admission into the University of Ibadan to study Biomedical Laboratory Science. The journey was tough: the second semester of 200L shook her confidence, the 300L clinical year at UCH demanded everything, and a malaria scare hit before her First Professional Exam, which she passed with distinction.
In 500L, she found her footing in Chemical Pathology. Her final semester research on toxicology required manually running three parameters on 60 samples in two days, testing her limits. Despite financial strain, her family supported her, and she graduated with a distinction in her Final Professional Exam as well.
Reactions from Social Media
Her story drew congratulations from many. Emmanuel Ikojo said, 'Congratulations, I celebrate you Mabel Aruwajoye.' Elizabeth Ademosu added, 'Congratulations, scientist. The sky is your starting point.' Blossom Chukwuma also congratulated her.
Mabel concluded, 'Two professional exams. Two Distinctions. A 2:1 degree. And a license. 8 years after secondary school, I am a 21-year-old licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist of the First and the Best. It can only be GOD.'
