The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has unveiled comprehensive screening procedures for newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session, introducing a mandatory toxicology test as part of its zero-tolerance policy on drug use.
Faculty-Based Registration Schedule
The institution confirmed that all Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry candidates must report to their respective faculties for registration between Monday, November 17, 2025, and Friday, November 28, 2025. The daily registration hours will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at designated faculty locations across the campus.
Compulsory Toxicology Screening
In a significant policy implementation, UNILAG has made toxicology screening mandatory for all incoming students. Candidates are required to pay for the test and present the results during their registration appointment. The university issued a stern warning that students testing positive for drug use or failing to undergo the test will face automatic withdrawal of their admission.
Mrs. V. Abosede Wickliffe, the Registrar and Secretary to Council, signed the official notice emphasizing the institution's commitment to maintaining a drug-free academic environment.
Six-Step Registration Process
The university has outlined a detailed six-stage registration process for successful candidates:
Stage 1: Toxicology Screening - Complete the compulsory drug test and obtain results.
Stage 2: Registration Appointment - Candidates must log into the UNILAG student portal from Friday, November 14, 2025, using their JAMB or application number as username and surname in lowercase as password to book registration appointments.

Stage 5: Fee Payment - After clearance, candidates generate payment advice and proceed to any commercial bank or use online platforms to pay required fees.
Stage 6: Faculty and Departmental Registration - Complete the final registration process at respective departments within faculties.
Strict Policies on Impersonation and Drug Use
The university reinforced its stance against impersonation, stating that anyone found guilty would not only forfeit their admission but could also face police prosecution. The institution described itself as "the University of First Choice and the nation's pride" while congratulating successful candidates on their admission.
Specific programs including Architecture, Medicine and Surgery, Computer Science, Mass Communication, Creative Arts, and several science disciplines received special mention regarding faculty domicile considerations during appointment booking.
Original credentials will be physically verified by registration officers during the faculty screening stage. The university confirmed that dates for matriculation ceremonies and orientation programs will be communicated to students at a later time.
