Three years ago, during a difficult season of illness, a young doctor at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi, was overheard complaining that he could not afford a house in Lagos and had been sleeping in his car parked at the hospital. An average person would have felt pity. A good person might have given money. But Misan, known as Bro Bro, did the unthinkable: he built and donated a 36-apartment housing facility for doctors at the hospital, a first-class edifice to improve their lives.
Legacy of Selflessness
Misan's act was not a one-time gesture. According to the tribute, 'A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children. A great man leaves a legacy and an indelible impact that outlives him.' Misan, even from his deathbed, continued to prioritize others. The housing project was commissioned in his absence, yet he was present through the keys handed to doctors.
Brotherhood Beyond Competition
The writer recalls meeting Misan in 2016, a year of personal crisis. Despite being competitors in the same business, Misan reached out with support and public words of encouragement. 'Normal people would either make damning comments or shake their heads in pity. Good people would visit and show support. But that is not who you were,' the tribute states. Misan ran towards the writer with a heart to help, sparking a brotherhood that defied rivalry.
A Great Man Remembered
Misan's wife spoke at the commissioning with grace, reflecting the man she married. The tribute concludes: 'Average men are forgotten. Good men are remembered. Great men live on through the lives they touched. Death could take Misa from us, but it could not take what he did with his life. MISA was not a good man. He was a great one.'
