Reason for the Postponement
In a press release signed by Dr. Nneka Ikem Anibeze, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister, the Ministry explained its decision. The move follows a careful review of the national mood and recent distressing incidents of insecurity that have impacted various regions. Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Minister, approved the postponement after consulting with key stakeholders. The government believes it is more respectful and responsible to delay the festival during a period of national grieving rather than proceed as planned.
