Thirteen chief executives leading various Nigerian federal government agencies have been recognised for outstanding performance in the first-ever 'Super Federal Agency Head of the Year' online poll. The poll was organised by the Ireland-based publication, The Street Journal.
Celebrating Excellence in Public Service
The publisher of The Street Journal, Mogaji Wole Arisekola, who also serves as the National Chairman of the Association of Online Media Practitioners in Nigeria (AMPCON), announced the results. He revealed that the thirteen winners secured the highest number of votes from a pool of over fifty heads of federal agencies considered in the poll.
Arisekola congratulated the winners, stating that the initiative was designed to acknowledge exceptional leadership within Nigeria's federal agencies. He described it as the newspaper's contribution to national development and a means to inspire and reward excellence in public service.
The Distinguished Winners and Their Accolades
The awardees, each recognised for specific transformative contributions, are leaders across investment, petroleum, education, anti-corruption, and identity management sectors.
Aisha Rimi, the Managing Director and CEO of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), won The Most Outstanding CEO of a Federal Government Agency award. She was honoured for spearheading a comprehensive institutional repositioning of the NIPC.
Engineer Gbenga Komolafe, CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), received The Best Performing and Results-Driven CEO award. His implementation of groundbreaking reforms to boost transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the oil and gas sector earned him the prize.
Usman Bamanga Jada of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) bagged The Best Results-Driven Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer award for his dedicated leadership in transforming the agency.
Other notable winners include Akintunde Sawyer (NELFUND), Engineer Abisoye Coker (NIMC), Olanipekun Olukoyede (EFCC), Patience Oniha (DMO), and Adebowale Adedokun (BPP).
The list is completed by Farouk Ahmed (NMDPRA), Gbenga Alade (AMCON), Ishaq Hussaini Magaji (CAC), Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd) (NDLEA), and Dr Olufemi Ogunyemi (NEPZA), each receiving a distinct award category tailored to their documented achievements.
Awards Ceremony and Ministerial Honours
All thirteen winners are scheduled to receive their awards at a televised ceremony in Abuja on January 31, 2026.
The event will also honour five federal ministers who were earlier declared winners in a separate online poll by the same newspaper. They are Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo (Interior), Morufu Olatunji Alausa (Education), Ambassador Yusuff Tuggar (Foreign Affairs), Abubakar Kyari (Agriculture and Food Security), and Dr Jumoke Oduwole (Industry, Trade and Investment). Each minister will receive a specific The Street Journal Award for their contributions to transformational leadership, distinguished public service, visionary policymaking, effective leadership, and excellence in public administration, respectively.
This collective recognition highlights a growing focus on performance and impact within Nigeria's public sector, aiming to set a benchmark for leadership and service delivery across federal institutions.
