Olushola Olonode, a 50-year-old Nigerian woman, gave birth to healthy quadruplets on March 6, 2026, just three weeks before her 50th birthday, after a series of ultrasound scans that initially showed twins, then triplets, and finally four babies. She shared her story during a thanksgiving service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Solid Rock Parish in Ojodu Berger, Lagos, with a video of her testimony later posted on the church's YouTube channel.
Conflicting Scan Results Led to Surprise
Olonode told the congregation that she married on December 12, 2023, after waiting many years, and was determined not to wait long for children. She became pregnant the following year. At her first scan, Dr. Ibrahim informed her that he could see twins. “I think I can see twins,” she recalled him saying. Even with that news, she was grateful: “Even if it is one, they will stop calling me Mummy Shola.”
However, during a subsequent scan with a different doctor, the count changed. “He said, I think I'm seeing three. I said, no. Dr Ibrahim told me he saw two,” she said. The doctor insisted he saw three. At a later appointment, after experiencing bleeding and fearing she might have lost a baby, the same doctor reviewed the scan again. When she reminded him he had said three, he replied, “I think I'm seeing four.”
Stopped Going for Scans After Baby Count Kept Increasing
The changing reports became too much for Olonode. “I said four? So, I told my husband, I said, I'm not coming back. Maybe I'll not see five. I'm serious. The first time, twins. The second time, three. The fourth time, so I refused to go back,” she said.
On March 6, 2026, she delivered four healthy babies—two boys and two girls—at a hospital. She noted that the birth occurred just three weeks before her 50th birthday, which she celebrated on March 31, 2026. “The truth of the testimony is that I had them three weeks to my 50th,” she said.
Family Reaction and Gratitude
Olonode also shared her family's reaction. Her husband called her aunt, whose family already has several sets of twins. Initially, the aunt hoped for triplets: “She said, I don't want twins again. I want three.” When told there were four, the excitement grew. “He said, four? Oh, they're here. They're at the back there,” Olonode recounted.
Ending her testimony, the new mother expressed gratitude for surviving the pregnancy and delivery. “I want to thank God for sparing my life. The living was not brought out of the dead. And the dead was not brought out of the living,” she said.
