NBA star Anthony Edwards is facing a new legal challenge as two of his children's mothers have united in a child support case against him. According to recent court filings, Ayesha Howard, who shares a daughter with the Minnesota Timberwolves guard, has submitted evidence from Alexandria Desroches, another woman who has a child with Edwards.
Jurisdiction Dispute Intensifies
Howard is seeking to have child support determined in Los Angeles County, while Edwards argues the case should be handled in Georgia. In her declaration, Desroches stated that Edwards had been making voluntary monthly child support payments via wire transfers from a Beverly Hills bank account. Howard's legal team contends this demonstrates Edwards has sufficient ties to California, contradicting his claim of no connection to the state.
Ongoing Legal Battle
The case has been ongoing for over a year, with both sides disputing jurisdiction. Edwards has requested the court to seal the proceedings and restrict further filings from Howard, alleging that she has submitted meritless and harassing motions. His legal representative claimed the case has been used to publicly target the player with inflammatory accusations, describing it as a campaign of harassment, obstruction, and extortion that has made a mockery of court systems in two states.
A California judge previously ruled that the state lacked jurisdiction over Edwards, while a Georgia court determined the matter should proceed there and ordered Howard to pay legal fees. The dispute continues as both sides contest where the case should be heard and how child support arrangements should be handled.
