Apostle Barnabas Shalom, the founder of Truth Assembly International Ministry, has issued a strong public rebuke against fellow cleric Pastor Chris Okafor. This comes in the wake of a series of controversies and allegations that have trailed Pastor Okafor, primarily stemming from claims made by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.
Shalom's Strong Condemnation and Questions
In a video shared on his Instagram platform, Apostle Barnabas Shalom reacted specifically to claims allegedly made by a woman presented as Pastor Chris Okafor's daughter. He stated he felt a deep sense of shame after listening to the account shared by the young woman, who detailed her personal experiences.
The apostle did not hold back in his criticism, posing pointed questions to his fellow man of God. He questioned how a pastor could allegedly father children with different women outside of wedlock. Furthermore, Apostle Shalom challenged the moral standing of any cleric embroiled in such scandals, asking, "How can such a man still mount the pulpit to preach?" His comments have ignited a firestorm of reactions across social media platforms.
A Vow to Expose and Face Backlash
Apostle Shalom also used the opportunity to make a broader statement about accountability within the clergy. He declared his intention to be an instrument for exposing any cleric whom God reveals to be living in contradiction to their teachings. He boldly stated that any such exposed pastor would face serious consequences at his hands, adding that he was unafraid of any public backlash that might follow his stance.
He explained that his own past experiences with criticism, simply for being a cleric, have compelled him to speak out against the actions of fellow pastors. His message was clear: he sees it as a duty to address misconduct within the fold.
Divided Reactions from Fans and Public
The video sparked a wave of comments from fans and followers, revealing a deeply divided audience. Some praised Apostle Shalom for his courage and truth-telling.
One user, @donemmynaijagraphics, commented, "I love you... you're speaking the truth... I'm a Winner's Chapel member but my heart goes with you now." Another, @udchelsea, wrote, "Heavy punch line, truth must be told. God bless you sir."
However, others criticized him for being judgmental. User @kingmichaelchatellier countered, "Go sit down.. lots of God's chosen in the bible with worse sin... Who are you to judge anyone?" Another commenter, @dromokhudu, urged caution, advising that men of God should refrain from commenting until investigations are complete, noting that daughters can sometimes be manipulated against their fathers.
The controversy surrounding Pastor Chris Okafor began when actress Doris Ogala claimed they had a past relationship and alleged he vowed never to marry. She later presented another woman who also claimed to have a child for the pastor, sharing details of her alleged ordeal. Pastor Okafor has also been in a public dispute with his ex-wife, whom he accused of infidelity from the pulpit.
