Deyemi Okanlawon: Wife not first call during struggles

Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has opened up about how men handle emotional struggles, revealing that his wife is not the first person he turns to when life gets difficult. Speaking on the CreativiTea Podcast, the actor explained that men are naturally wired to carry burdens and protect those around them.

Men Are Built to Absorb Pain

According to Deyemi, men are designed to withstand emotional pressure. 'I'm a man. We're built to chest things. If you punch a man, he has the ability to absorb it,' he said. The actor emphasized that he sees it as his responsibility to shield his loved ones from his problems.

Healthy Outlets Are Crucial

Despite this, Deyemi stressed that men still need healthy outlets to process their emotions. He revealed his personal strategy: 'For me, I have my therapist and mentors on speed dial. Whenever I'm going through things, my wife is not the first person I call.' He explained that he only involves his wife when the situation becomes overwhelming, noting that she also has her own challenges to deal with. 'When things get really hard, that's when I turn to my wife,' he added.
