Nigerian rapper and activist Falz has sharply criticised the current administration, labelling the popular 'Emi Lokan' slogan as one of the most absurd political slogans he has ever encountered. In a recent interview with Arise TV, Falz questioned the government's spending priorities, highlighting the purchase of official vehicles and jets while insecurity and other pressing challenges continue to plague Nigerians.
Falz rejects excuses for governance failures
Falz dismissed the notion that the government should be excused due to the pressures of governing, arguing that public office is a responsibility that leaders willingly sought. He stated that those in power must be prepared to deliver on their promises rather than complain about the difficulties of governance.
'Emi Lokan' slogan under fire
Referring to the campaign slogan 'Emi Lokan', which translates to 'It's my turn', Falz said it demonstrated that those in power actively sought the position. He added, 'There's nothing more absurd than the 'Emi Lokan' slogan.' The rapper emphasised that the slogan reflects a sense of entitlement rather than a commitment to serving the people.
Government spending and insecurity
Falz also pointed to the government's expenditure on luxury items, such as official vehicles and jets, while insecurity and economic hardship remain unresolved. He urged the administration to focus on addressing the needs of Nigerians rather than indulging in self-serving rhetoric.
