Get Married for Protection, Not Money: Nigerian Woman Advises

Nigerian Muslim woman Zainab Isa Hayatuddeen has advised women to prioritize marriage for their own protection, arguing that financial wealth cannot provide the same level of security as a husband. In a Facebook post on Monday, she asserted that men fear married women, not wealthy women.

Money vs. Marriage: A Question of Safety

Zainab wrote: “Sister, money does not protect you from harm as much as a man can. Why do you think we were put under the authority of men? You think Allah wants to punish us? Haba Al Wadood? The All loving? No darling.” She emphasized that this arrangement is for women’s protection, as men do not fear a woman with money but do fear one who is married.

Call to Action for Women

She concluded: “So sis, marry. This is for your own protection.” The post, shared on June 22, has sparked discussions on gender roles, safety, and the value of marriage in contemporary Nigerian society.
