The 27-year-old French defender, who joined the club from RB Leipzig in 2021, has been unable to reach an agreement with the Merseyside club over an extension, meaning he will leave Anfield on a free transfer.

Konate had been engaged in discussions with Liverpool regarding a contract renewal, but the two parties failed to find common ground. As a result, the centre-back will now become a free agent at the end of the current season. Since the start of the year, Konate has attracted interest from several top European clubs, though he has yet to finalize his next destination.

Throughout the season, Konate was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid as his contract wound down. However, a return to his birthplace to join Paris Saint-Germain appears to be a more likely outcome. With Konate's departure now confirmed, Liverpool have already lined up a replacement in French defender Jeremy Jacquet, who will join from Rennes in a deal worth £60 million this summer. Jacquet becomes the second-most expensive defender in Liverpool's history.

In addition to Jacquet's arrival, Italian defender Giovani Leoni is set to return to the Liverpool squad for the upcoming season. Leoni suffered a season-ending knee injury on his debut in September but has now recovered and will be available for selection.
