Football legend Jay-Jay Okocha has revealed that one of his key decisions during his successful career was to financially empower his family members by buying them houses. In an interview with the LongForm podcast, Okocha stated, "I bought houses for my family so they'll never be homeless. I pay their children's school fees and even give them startup capital to start businesses."
Okocha's Approach to Family Support
Okocha explained that he ensures his family members have a solid foundation, but he also expects them to take responsibility. "If they fail after that, it's none of my business. I have suffered enough, and I can't keep suffering. I bought houses for them, so there is no house rent. So why can't you just manage your capital, the business I have started for you to feed your family? So if you can't do that, what else do you expect from me. At least, I make sure they can never be homeless," he added.
Impact of Okocha's Generosity
The former Super Eagles captain's comments highlight his commitment to providing long-term security for his loved ones, ensuring they have a home and means to generate income. His statement underscores the importance of financial planning and family support among successful athletes.
