A Nigerian content creator has released screenshots of her final WhatsApp conversations with the late actor Alexx Ekubo, revealing his plans and polite refusal of a movie role just weeks before his death.
Private Messages Surface After Actor's Passing
The leaked online messages show that the popular Nollywood actor, who died on May 11 at age 40 after a quiet battle with kidney cancer, had been in contact with content creator Neye Balgun as recently as March 2026.
Balgun shared a moving tribute on Instagram, including screenshots of their last chats, which highlighted Ekubo's warm personality and his decision to decline a role in a YouTube project.
Content Creator Reaches Out
On February 25, Balgun messaged Ekubo to check on his well-being after learning he had returned to film sets. She offered him a role in an upcoming project scheduled for the second week of March.
The late actor responded on March 3, asking about the nature of the project. When Balgun confirmed it was for a YouTube show, Ekubo politely declined, stating: "Thank you for reaching out. I am not filming for YouTube releases."
Balgun accepted his response and reflected on how his warm personality remained constant throughout their 10-year friendship.
