According to reports from Argentina, the 32-year-old fashion designer was involved in a crash in Miami, USA. She reportedly lost control of her vehicle and collided with a wall. The incident led to her being rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
Argentinian journalist Angel de Brito provided crucial updates, confirming that while Maria Sol is now out of danger, her injuries are severe. He stated that she sustained spinal fractures and burns, injuries that necessitate a long and careful rehabilitation process.
Her mother, Celia Cuccittini, shared further medical details, revealing her daughter suffered two fractured vertebrae, along with fractures to her heel and wrist. The family indicated the crash occurred after Maria Sol fainted while behind the wheel.
Wedding Plans Put on Hold
The accident has directly impacted a major family celebration. Maria Sol was set to marry Julian "Tuli" Arellano, a member of the Inter Miami CF under-19 coaching staff, in Rosario, Argentina, on January 3.
"The wedding has had to be suspended," confirmed de Brito during an appearance on the US programme LAM. The Messi family, who had been preparing to gather in their hometown of Rosario for the nuptials, have now shifted their focus to Maria Sol's recovery.
She has since returned to Rosario to begin her rehabilitation journey. The family has emphasised that her injuries, while serious, are not life-threatening.
