The cast of Marshals: A Yellowstone Story is set to return for its second season in September 2026, with Luke Grimes, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Logan Marshall-Green, and Arielle Kebbel leading the ensemble. As of July 2026, Kelsey Asbille, who played Monica Dutton, is the only main cast member not confirmed to return. The series, a spin-off of the Yellowstone universe, drew over 9.5 million viewers in its first season and has been renewed by CBS, with production underway since June 2026.

Main Cast Returning for Season 2

Luke Grimes reprises his role as Special Deputy U.S. Marshal Kayce Dutton, the youngest son of John Dutton who leaves the family ranch to join a U.S. Marshals unit. Grimes, 42, is known for his roles in the Fifty Shades trilogy and American Sniper, and he has also released a country music debut album in 2024 and a second album, RedBird, in April 2026.

Ash Santos plays Deputy U.S. Marshal Andrea Cruz, a character initially assigned to Washington, D.C., before being reluctantly transferred to Montana. Santos, 33, broke out in American Horror Story: Apocalypse and has appeared in FBI: Most Wanted and Mayor of Kingstown.

Tatanka Means portrays Deputy U.S. Marshal Miles Kittle, a former Broken Rock Reservation police officer and ex-Marine. Means, 41, is known for Killers of the Flower Moon and Horizon: An American Saga, and also performs stand-up comedy with the group 49 Laughs Comedy.

New and Returning Characters

Logan Marshall-Green plays Pete 'Cal' Calvin, the head of Montana's Marshals unit and Kayce's former Navy SEAL commanding officer. Marshall-Green, 49, is best known for Prometheus and Upgrade. He told The Hollywood Reporter, 'I can confirm he is alive, but not necessarily unscathed... I'm hours away from shooting (season two, episode one). I can tell you that we're all going through things, without giving anything away.'

Arielle Kebbel stars as Belle Skinner, an undercover specialist and former ATF agent. Kebbel, 41, is known for The Vampire Diaries and Ballers. Her character was shot in the season one finale, but she confirmed her return, saying, 'I am a part of season two, yes. We start filming (season two) with a pickup of that (finale) moment.'

Brecken Merrill returns as Tate Dutton, Kayce's son, a role he has played since Yellowstone's debut in 2018. Mo Brings Plenty reprises his role as Mo, driver and bodyguard to Thomas Rainwater, while also serving as Taylor Sheridan's American Indian Affairs Coordinator. Gil Birmingham returns as Thomas Rainwater, the owner of Painted Horse and Grey Wolf Peak casinos and chairman of the Broken Rock tribes.

Supporting Cast and New Faces

Morgan Lindholm plays Maddie, Cal's daughter and a bartender, who develops a romantic storyline with Miles Kittle. Brett Cullen portrays Harry Gifford, head of Montana's U.S. Marshals division, with a long history with the Dutton family. Whitney Palmer appears as Eve, a character connected to Kayce's personal life. Ellyn Jameson plays Dolly Weaver, Tom Weaver's daughter, who develops a romantic dynamic with Kayce. Michael Cudlitz plays Randall Clegg, a militia-linked antagonist, and Chris Mulkey plays Tom Weaver, the richest new rancher in town, who is revealed to be working against the Marshals.

Connections to Yellowstone

Marshals is a spin-off and sequel to Yellowstone, the fifth television series in the franchise after 1883, 1923, The Madison, and Dutton Ranch. Kayce Dutton and his son Tate are the primary crossover characters, along with Mo Brings Plenty and Gil Birmingham. John Dutton does not appear, though he is referenced. Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are absent from Marshals; they star in Dutton Ranch, a series about them leaving Montana for a 7,000-acre ranch in South Texas. Monica Dutton, played by Kelsey Asbille, dies off-screen between Yellowstone and Marshals, making her the only main cast member not returning for Season 2.
