MC Oluomo Breaks Silence on Toba Ijaya's Killing

The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has finally spoken out following the tragic death of Lagos union official Toba Ijaya. In a statement, he described the killing as deeply disturbing and called for a thorough investigation.

MC Oluomo Condemns Killing as Heinous and Barbaric

MC Oluomo condemned the act as “heinous, barbaric and unacceptable,” urging the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation, arrest those responsible, and ensure they face justice without delay, according to The Nation. Comrade Toba Ajiboye, also called Toba Ijaya, served as the NURTW Lagos State Organising Secretary. He was reportedly shot on Sunday by unidentified gunmen in Lagos and later died at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos Island.

Union President Calls for Calm and Cooperation

MC Oluomo described Ajiboye's death as a tragic loss to the union and the wider transport community, noting that the late officer was a dedicated member whose contributions would be sorely missed. He extended heartfelt condolences to Ajiboye's family, praying that Almighty Allah grant them strength. He also sympathised with members of the Lagos State Council, urging them to remain calm, united, and law‑abiding as security agencies intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators. He assured members that the national leadership would fully cooperate with law enforcement to ensure justice.

Police Confirm Suspects in Custody

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, confirmed that some suspects are already in custody as investigations continue. He added that security has been beefed up across the state and urged residents to go about their normal activities.
