A Nigerian woman residing in the United Kingdom has broken down in tears as she opened up about the hardships she has faced since leaving her home country. She revealed that she first moved to South Africa before relocating to the UK, but her journey has been fraught with challenges.
Struggles in the UK
In a viral TikTok video posted by user @001deviney, the lady explained that her employer in the UK lost its Certificate of Sponsorship (COS), putting her immigration status at risk. She also mentioned that despite her efforts to secure a new job, many companies do not offer sponsorship. Additionally, her application to the University of Manchester for a master's degree was rejected because her bachelor's degree lacks honours.
She said: "I left South Africa and moved here over four years ago. I have been working earnestly, God knows. I even refuse money from men because I have my own. I'm building a stable life. Only for them to tell me now that the company I'm working for has lost their COS. I've been trying to be strong. I applied for an interview, but they do not have sponsorship. Even the University of Manchester said my bachelor's do not have honours and I cannot apply for master's. I'm losing my mind. I'm tired."
Reasons for Not Returning to Nigeria
The lady cited the ongoing insecurity in Nigeria as a major reason she cannot return home, despite her struggles abroad. This has sparked a wave of reactions from social media users, many of whom shared their own experiences and advice.

User KenzoK Proudly commented: "Just to correct you, South Africans are not fighting foreigners because of xenophobia. Many are raising concerns about illegal immigration, border control, pressure on public services, crime, unemployment, and government failures. Those concerns should not automatically be labelled as hatred. No one wants to kill you, so please don't spread fear or misinformation. South Africans are demanding that our government enforce the law and put the interests of its citizens first!!! As a Black South African, I could never imagine abandoning my own country because it is my home, my identity, and where I belong. No matter where you go in the world, you will always be seen as a foreigner in someone else's country. Home is home—remember that."
Mary_Not_mather advised: "Find one place Sidon drink cold Pepsi, cry, after that clean your eyes and keep pushing!!! Na who die loss."
Kaylord urged her to return: "Come back home...come back to Nigeria ...I came back to Nigeria from Austria some years back and am doing very very very better here in Abeokuta ... it's just mentality .... stop giving yourself unnecessary headache ...life is ephemeral."
